Board Members, Meetings, and Policies


The Odyssey Charter School, Inc. Board of Directors is a volunteer governing body comprised of business professionals from the community and parents of OCS, Inc. students. The Board meets monthly during the school year to provide strategic oversight, guide long-term planning, and ensure the school remains aligned with its mission and vision. When vacancies occur, the Board invites applications from qualified individuals within the school and the broader community. Board members typically begin with a one-year initial term. Upon re-election, members may serve an additional three-year term, allowing them to develop a comprehensive understanding of the school’s operations, priorities, and future direction. Andy Ziegler, President
Community Member, Term: 2024-2027

Mr. Ziegler has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, was elected to the Brevard County School Board in 2008 and served for 10 years. He is a Palm Bay Rotarian of 30 years and has held board positions including President in 1997. His primary expertise in his career is as Network Specialist. Mr. Ziegler is a current member of numerous Boards of Directors including the Melbourne Regional Chamber of Commerce, AmiKids, Central Florida Boy Scouts advisory committee, and past Chair of Central Florida Public School Board Coalition. Mr. Ziegler is was also instrumental in paving the way for the Children’s Hunger Project to operate through public schools and continues as an advisor. Mr. Ziegler has been a Board member since January 2019.

Amber Miller,Vice President
Community Member, Term: 2025-2028

Ms. Miller has a Bachelor’s degree in Fine/Studio Arts. Ms. Miller is currently the director of digital learning and development. She has former experience as a Training Specialist at Ford Motor Company, a Director of Marketing, a Social Media Specialist, and a Merchandise Coordinator/Trainer at Walt Disney World. Ms. Miller has been a Board member since November 2019.

Dr. Haig John, Secretary
Community Member, Term: 2025-2026

Dr. John is a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine and is a proponent of natural health with his first practice opening in 2005, specializing in pediatric and prenatal care. Dr. John supports the holistic well-being of families and communities and was awarded the 2020 Chiropractor of the Year by the Florida Chiropractic Society. In 2006 he received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Conscious Living Partnership. Aside from his practice he has served on many boards including the March of Dimes, Florida Chiropractic Society, Florida Chiropractic Society Political Action Committee, and Melbourne and Melbourne Beach Board of Adjustments. Dr. John has been a Board member since January 2025.

Zachariah “Zak" Walker, Board Member
Community Member, Term: 2026-2027

Mr. Walker brings extensive experience in engineering leadership and project management from his role as a Project Manager and Engineer at Northrop Grumman, where he leads complex initiatives with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time and within scope. Known for his strong technical expertise, strategic thinking, and attention to detail, he effectively bridges design and execution while upholding a commitment to excellence. Mr. Walker is deeply connected to the Odyssey community as the fiancé of an Odyssey alumna and the parent of two students attending the Eldron campus, and he values the opportunity to support the school’s mission of serving students and families through thoughtful governance and community engagement. Mr. Walker has been a Board member since January 2026.


Board Meetings

The Board of Directors oversees business decisions, future planning for the school, and adherence to the school’s mission and vision. Regular meetings are normally held four times per fiscal year at 4:30 p.m. Special meetings may be scheduled as needed by the Board within 24 hours notice. All meetings are open to the public and abide by Florida Sunshine Law.

Individuals or groups wishing to address the Board at any meeting should arrive prior to the meeting and sign-up on the Public Comment form. Public comment will be limited to three minutes. Concerns will not be addressed at the Board meeting. All concerns will be addressed in writing in a timely manner.

Sensory and mobility impaired persons seeking assistance for participation in any meeting should contact the School Principal.

Anyone who would like a copy of a Board document must complete a public records request form located in the school’s office.
